Who can offer MobilePay with Shopify Payments?
Your store can offer MobilePay when:
- you set up Shopify Payments first;
- your account is located in one of 28 listed regions — EU countries except Slovakia, plus Liechtenstein and Norway (our count, October 29, 2026);
- you accept DKK, EUR, NOK or SEK;
- you have an eligible business type;
- an account in Norway has its tax identification number (TIN) added.
A second gate decides who sees it: only customers who enter a Danish or Finnish address and pay in one of those currencies. Even a Norwegian account can't offer it to Norwegian shoppers. Denmark and Finland, where outside your business location, must be set up in your markets.
In person, Shopify POS supports it at locations in Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway or Sweden, not Finland.
How do you turn on MobilePay, and what about Vipps?
Shopify requires you to deactivate any conflicting additional payment gateways before activating local payment methods. Then enable MobilePay:
- Settings
- Payments
- Shopify Payments
- Manage
- More actions
- Manage payment methods
- Local payment methods
- MobilePay
- Enable
With managed payment methods on, it might be activated for you automatically; you can deactivate it at any time, and the feature won't reactivate it.
On Shopify POS, activate local payment methods in the Point of Sale channel; customers scan a QR code on your POS device.
If you meet the provider's requirements, including a Danish, Finnish or Norwegian organization number, its own Vipps/MobilePay Payments app is another route: customers choose Vipps or MobilePay at checkout.
As of October 2026, Shopify's Help Center calls the method MobilePay. Vipps MobilePay announced on October 6, 2026 that MobilePay becomes Vipps in Denmark, Finland and Greenland on January 12.
How do MobilePay fees, refunds and disputes work?
- MobilePay costs 49 DKK per month.
- Automatic capture adds funds to your next available payout; manual capture gives you 7 days from the order, for the full amount only.
- Full and partial refunds work.
- Customers dispute through their card issuer; here's how to respond to the dispute.
- Customers can't pay for subscription products with it.
- On POS, MobilePay transactions count as non-card-present and carry a higher chargeback risk in retail settings.
