How do you print a gift receipt in Shopify POS?

Tap Gift receipt on the Payment successful screen, or, for a completed sale, open Orders, tap the order and tap Print gift receipt. For a completed sale, the option appears only if you have a receipt printer — see the hardware the POS app supports.

On the new receipt template, which prints from Shopify POS app version 11.10 or later, you can print several copies at once (August 11, 2026 update); a shop on a customized Liquid template has until January 1, 2027 to switch.

Gift receipts cover full orders only; for one item, ring it up as a separate order. The third-party app QuickGift claims per-item and emailed gift receipts.

What does a Shopify POS gift receipt show?

On the new receipt template, line items, prices, quantities and totals are omitted, so the recipient can return or exchange items without seeing what was paid. The header and footer content from the receipt visual editor still prints, along with a barcode linking to the original order, which staff can scan in POS to start a return.
