Where do you create the FAQ page?
On the Starter plan, Shopify's plan page says creating other pages requires a higher plan such as Basic, Grow, Advanced or Shopify Plus, and Starter doesn't support creating any new templates.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store › Pages and click Add page.
- Enter a title, such as FAQ, and any introduction in Content.
- Under Visibility, select Visible. Shopify's help says a new page is visible by default, but our development store opened the form with Hidden selected on October 25, 2026.
- Click Save.

- Add page
The Content editor can insert links, tables, images and videos, per Shopify's page help; a collapsible question isn't on that list.
To show the page in your navigation, add it to a menu as a menu item; Shopify's menu guide has the steps.
How do you make the questions collapsible?
The collapsible questions come from a theme section. Every theme has a default page template, and any change to a template applies to every page that uses it, so build the FAQ on a template of its own. Creating that template is covered in our About us page answer.
- In the theme editor, click the Home page drop-down at the top and select your FAQ page template.
- Click Add section and choose the collapsible section; in Dawn it's Collapsible content, and in our Horizon 4.3.0 check on October 25, 2026 it was FAQ.
- Fill in a row for each question and its answer, then click Save.
- In Online Store › Pages, open the FAQ page, choose your template in the Template card and save. Shopify's template help calls this drop-down Theme template.

Which sections and blocks you can add depends on your theme and theme version, Shopify's sections help says. Dawn added Collapsible content in version 3.0.0, laid out as collapsible rows, and its release note calls it ideal for a Frequently Asked Questions page. Our Dawn 15.0.0 still lists it under Add section.
In Horizon 4.3.0, searching Add section for Accordion or Collapsible found nothing in our store on October 25, 2026, but searching faq found a FAQ section that already contains an Accordion block, which its Add block list also offers. If your theme has no collapsible section like these, see the app route below.

This third-party video (MMX channel, July 2024) shows how to create an FAQ page in Shopify; your theme's labels may differ.
Shopify's metaobjects help also suggests an FAQ metaobject with question and answer fields, displayed in a dedicated section of your theme, as an example rather than steps. None of the metaobjects, sections or Knowledge Base help pages we read on October 25, 2026 says whether a collapsible section can display those entries.
Does the Knowledge Base app build a storefront FAQ page?
No. Shopify's Knowledge Base help says its FAQs "aren't displayed directly on your storefront": the app holds brief 1–2 sentence answers that AI agents use to respond about your store. What it does for those agents is covered in our Knowledge Base answer.
Manually created or overridden FAQs are also saved as metaobjects under Content › Metaobjects, per its FAQ guide.
Shopify's FAQ page guide, updated May 21, 2026, lists Knowledge Base first among apps "to build your FAQ page", though it calls it a free app that manages data for AI shopping agents. Build the visible page with your theme's collapsible section, if it has one, and use Knowledge Base only for what AI agents say.
When is a FAQ app worth installing?
A page with a collapsible section already gives shoppers an FAQ; if your theme has no collapsible section, an app's FAQ page is another route. An app earns its place when you want a feature its listing promises, such as FAQ schema, FAQ search or questions submitted by customers; some of these features need a paid plan. These are the listings' own claims, not features we tested.
Three FAQ apps and their free plans
| App listing | Free plan, per the listing | What the listing claims |
|---|---|---|
| StoreFAQ: Product FAQ Chatbot | Up to 100 FAQ page views | FAQ schema, product FAQs, an AI chatbot |
| Trusted Help Center & FAQ | A main FAQ page on its own URL; product FAQs are listed only on paid plans | SEO-prepared FAQ pages and a help center |
| D: AI FAQ Page | One category with up to 15 FAQs | Google FAQ schema and FAQ search; customer-submitted questions and AI-generated FAQs on paid plans |
Read on each Shopify App Store listing on October 25, 2026; picked from the first page of the FAQ category on October 24, in listing order, not a ranking. Paid plan prices are on each listing.
