What the Knowledge Base app does for AI shopping agents
When shoppers ask AI agents about products or store policies, Shopify answers from your catalog and settings. The app turns details such as shipping, return rules and store languages into store facts and FAQs, and lets you:
- Preview the facts generated about your store
- Review common questions customers ask
- Customize answers or create your own
- Understand your AI search performance
These FAQs aren't displayed directly on your storefront; AI platforms use them as a trusted data source.
Does it make AI agents show your store more often?
No — it shapes what agents say about your store, not how often they show it:
The Shopify Knowledge Base app improves the accuracy of AI responses about your store but doesn't affect how often your store appears in AI platform results.
Metrics stay empty until your products show up in AI shopping conversations; then the query log lists customers' questions and whether agents answered. For what agents read on your product pages before they show a product, see our agentic commerce guide.
How to review and correct your store's answers

- Knowledge Base
If a generated FAQ is wrong, update the store information it comes from, or click Override and edit the answer; you can't delete it, and Return to default removes your override. Once data appears, filter the query log to Unanswered to see questions agents couldn't answer; they also appear under Top unanswered questions, where you can add an answer. Questions you ask to test the base carry a Test badge that sets them apart from real customer questions.
Custom and overridden FAQs are also saved as metaobjects under Content > Metaobjects. The app runs separately for each store.
As of October 20, 2026, the Shopify App Store listing shows the app as Free, with support from Shopify; Shopify's FAQ guide has the full steps.
