Short answer
Sales by discount codes, in Analytics > Reports, lists each discount code or automatic discount with its orders and sales.

Analytics > Reports, Sales category; in the mobile app, Menu > Analytics > Reports
Combined discounts
An order with combined discounts appears in each applied discount's row; don't add the rows
Sales counted

Margin or ROI
No margin or ROI per discount on the Shopify help pages we read, October 2026

Where do you find the discount code report?

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics > Reports (in the mobile app, Menu > Analytics > Reports).
  2. Filter Category to Sales.
  3. Open Sales by discount codes.
  4. Set the date range to your promotion; in the store we checked, it opened on Last 30 days.

The report groups sales by discount name, so each discount code or automatic discount gets a row with its orders and sales.

Step 3: Sales by discount codes sits in the Sales category of the reports list.

Staff accounts need Analytics permissions to open reports.

How do you read the rows?

Don't add the rows together
With combinable discounts, one order appears in each applied discount's row, so summing the rows counts it more than once.

Shopify's help page for the report, read on October 18, 2026, names terms such as Orders, Total sales and Discount amount; the report, opened that day, labels its metrics Discounted orders, Applied discounts, Total sales and more. Go by the admin's labels. For how Shopify defines Discounted orders and Applied discounts, see Shopify's analytics fields reference.

Pick columns in the Metrics panel; this test store had no discounted orders in the last 30 days, so the table is empty.

The report's help page describes sales two ways: only the line items a discount touched, and the total sales of all orders it applied to. So compare discounts with each other, row by row — Discounted orders shows how often each was used — not against your store's revenue.

What the report does not measure

None of the Shopify help pages we read on October 18, 2026 — sales and profit reports, analytics fields, ShopifyQL — describes a margin or ROI figure for a single discount. Discount amount is the discount's own value, and profit-report gross margin uses net sales after discounts; the pages we read show no split of it by discount. Whether a promotion paid back takes margin arithmetic of your own.

For your own cut, edit this report — its query reads FROM sales, discounts — and save it as a custom report; our ShopifyQL and custom reports section covers the editor.
