At least 10 products, each with more than 25 sales per month
A/B test access
Select US stores on Grow or higher; also needs enough sessions and the new Markets with only 1 US catalog
Test limits
Up to 250 products, 1 active experiment, online store only

What Smart Pricing does and doesn't do

The Smart Pricing app uses machine learning to recommend prices that optimize your store's profit. It is free on its App Store listing as of October 24, 2026, and offers three types of price tips:

  • Markdowns and markups
  • New products
  • Tips for A/B price experiments, in early access

Any price change is applied by you. Shopify also rules out real-time repricing based on demand:

The Smart Pricing app doesn't adjust your product prices in real time for customers based on demand.

Who can use it

Markdown and markup tips need at least 10 products, each with more than 25 sales per month, and a store selling primarily physical rather than digital products. New-product tips need new active products added in the past 30 days, most of them priced the same across variants, and prices free of contractual restrictions.

As of October 2026, A/B experiments are early access, for select stores only, and require:

  • The Grow plan or higher, with sufficient visitor sessions
  • A US-based store selling to US customers
  • The new Shopify Markets with only 1 catalog for the US market, and the US as a top-level market
  • The same minimum of 10 products, each with more than 25 sales a month

How an A/B price test runs

Customers are split 50/50 at random between a control and an experimental catalog. An experiment holds up to 250 products, 1 runs at a time, and only the online store is tested.

Tests have no set duration; results appear after four days. You then apply price updates yourself with a CSV file, so check what a product CSV import overwrites.

Before you start a test
  • Changing an included product's price mid-test invalidates the results.
  • Tests don't stop automatically when profit drops significantly; you must stop them yourself.
  • Stopping before day 4 gives no results and no restart.
  • Third-party personalization apps aren't compatible.

Yes — country or region market catalogs are available on Basic; a customer who opens a product unavailable in their market sees your store's 404 page.
