Does Shopify name Wise as a payout account?

None of the 40 country requirement pages under Shopify's supported countries list names Wise, as either accepted or ruled out. We checked them in October 2026, with Shopify's bank account requirements, payouts, failed payouts and setup pages; none of those names it either.

Revolut and Payoneer appear on 10 of the same 40 pages, and Germany's page says virtual bank accounts "such as Revolut and Payoneer" are accepted for payouts.

Either way, Shopify's general rule applies: a checking or current account that can receive transfers in a currency Shopify supports for your country, while savings accounts, flex-currency accounts and money-transferring services that mimic bank accounts aren't supported. Our Revolut answer covers what any payout account needs.

Wise does appear in Shopify's Bill Pay help, as the source of the mid-market rate in its exchange rate, not as a payout account.

What does Wise say, and what does your country require?

Wise says on its blog that a direct-debit-enabled account can link to Shopify, so your Wise account details for GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD and USD can be used "to get paid from Shopify". That is Wise's claim, not Shopify's.

Wise's US blog adds that you need the full Wise Business account with account details; its UK blog says Wise Business gives local GBP details with a UK sort code, but not on its free Essential plan.

Your country's Shopify page sets:

  • UK: a UK-based financial institution, GBP, Faster Payments.
  • US: a full checking account with a US bank, in USD, eligible for ACH.
  • Germany: EUR, eligible for SEPA transfers.

Every country page repeats the bans on flex-currency accounts ("accounts that support multiple currencies simultaneously") and services that mimic bank accounts.

Compare the details Wise gives you with your country's page before you enter them.

What if a Shopify payout to Wise fails?

Shopify supports non-Shopify virtual accounts but says you might experience more payout failures with them; US domestic virtual accounts that accept ACH might work but can experience more payout failures than traditional bank accounts. No Shopify payout page we checked names Wise, so none says whether this applies to it.
