The catch
Changing plan tier keeps the original end date. Shopify doesn't extend or reset the promotion, and app fees still apply during it.

Who qualifies
Stores created with an AI tool, such as the Stripe Projects CLI, or with a vibe code partner.
When you can get it
When the store is created through that route. If you choose a paid plan during the trial, charges start after it ends.
The catch
Shopify says "currently" — length can change. A store built via the Stripe Projects CLI can start on a paid plan instead, with no trial. If it ends before you pick one, the store pauses.

A store built and transferred by a Partner loses trials and promotions

A store transferred to you by a Partner gets no trials or promotions.

What you get
Nothing: after a Shopify Partner transfers a client transfer store to you, the store isn't eligible for promotions or free trials.
Who qualifies
Merchants who receive a store that a Partner built for them under the Partner's organization and then transferred.
When you can get it
The rule applies from the moment of transfer.
The catch
The alternative is collaborator access: the Partner works in a store you already own, and nothing is transferred.

Who qualifies
Store owners whose store is past the free trial and on a paid plan. Not available on Shopify Plus.
When you can get it
After the free trial, from Settings > Plan; the change might take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
The catch
Your old plan is no longer valid: to unpause you must select a new plan, which starts a new billing cycle.

Shopify Payments fee promotions

Processing fees waived for a limited amount of transactions: up to $1,500 USD standard, or up to $100,000 in-person, depending on the promotion.
Who qualifies
Merchants invited through the Shopify website (or by Shopify directly) who register for Shopify Payments as their primary payment provider and meet the invitation's conditions.
When you can get it
Applied once per eligible store, up to 5 stores per Shopify User account, while the promotion is active.
The catch
These are published terms, not a sign-up: whether a promotion is running now isn't public, and you only qualify by invitation.

Free Card Reader Hardware Promotion

US only: a one-time credit of up to $50 USD toward card readers.

Who qualifies
US merchants invited by Shopify who complete the actions in the invitation and pay one billing cycle on Basic, Grow, Advanced or Retail.
When you can get it
The billing cycle must be paid within 60 days of starting your free trial.
The catch
The credit expires 60 days after the trial starts, or immediately if you pause or cancel, close the store, or the account is frozen. The promotion is only available while supplies last.

Included in your plan

Services Shopify includes with a plan, each with a published allowance, threshold or condition that decides when it stops being free.

Shopify Tax free threshold

Who qualifies
Stores selling to the US, Canada, EU and UK. Stores created on or after May 13, 2026 count lifetime sales; older stores count sales per calendar year.
When you can get it
Automatically; the threshold applies to each store individually.
The catch
Above the threshold, a fee applies to taxed-region orders: for US-located stores, 0.35% on Basic/Grow/Advanced, 0.25% on Plus, capped at $0.99 per order.

Merchants located in the United States with a US Shopify Payments account, on orders processed through Shop Pay.

Per order, when the order meets the protection conditions.
The catch
Not protected: digital/pickup orders, Shop Pay Installments, repeat subscriptions, orders not tracked-shipped within 7 days and in-transit within 10, or with an address changed after checkout.

Shopify Shipping label discounts

There is no minimum store sales requirement.
The catch
Free to use does not mean every store qualifies: eligibility is checked per store.

Money and financing

Funding, cashback and credits from Shopify's financial products and promotions. Each depends on an invitation, an approval or an account, so none of it is free money.

Shopify Capital

When an offer appears: Shopify may invite you to apply, and offers show on the Finance page of your admin.
The catch
Eligibility is determined automatically by Shopify's underwriting model, using data that includes your sales, disputes and customer engagement. Treat your admin as the answer for your country.

Shopify Capital flex account

Shopify Balance cashback

Merchants with a Shopify Balance account, available only with a physical residential address in the United States or Puerto Rico.
When you can get it
The 2% cashback is automatic once a Balance card is your primary payment method; ad-payment cashback has separate requirements.
The catch
Balance is a commercial card, not free money; ACH transfers don't earn cashback. Ad-payment cashback needs $10,000 spent on Shopify Credit last month, or $10,000 Capital funding in 12 months.

Shopify Credit cashback

Bank-approved US merchants: 3% cashback on capped top-category spend, 1% otherwise.

What you get
3% cashback as a statement credit on up to US$250,000 a year in your top spend category (marketing, fulfillment or wholesale), then 1%; 1% on the other two.
Who qualifies
US merchants (including Puerto Rico) approved by the issuing bank. Those who have started applying for or currently have Shopify Capital funding can't apply.
When you can get it
After approval; cashback is applied when each monthly statement is generated.
The catch
It is a business charge card subject to bank approval. Paying over 10 months instead of in full costs a fee.

Shopify Rewards Promotion

The catch
Rewards are subscription credits, not cash: they can only be redeemed on upcoming Shopify plan subscription fees, and aren't applied until the store reaches $1,000 USD in sales.

On Shopify Plus

It was offered through the One Million Black Businesses initiative.
When you can get it
The wording disappeared between February 8 and 9, 2024, with no published announcement. Before that, the page answered how long the trial would be offered with: The 1MBB initiative will run until 2030.
The catch
The live 1MBB page now offers Basic for $1 a month for the first 6 months, for merchants in the US and Canada only.

Method

Every row was checked against the official Shopify page named in its sources, on the date shown next to each quote. The quote is the sentence the row rests on; wording in the row never goes further than that sentence.

Shopify shows prices in the visitor's local currency, and a pricing page can render a different amount depending on where the request comes from. Dollar figures here are US pricing unless a row says otherwise. The introductory monthly rate differs by country, so it is shown in its own per-country table rather than as one number.

Figures that the rest of this site also uses, such as plan prices, the Shopify Tax threshold and the Shopify Messaging allowance, come from one data module and are checked against it at build time, so this page cannot drift from our guides.

Each row links to our deeper guide where one exists. This page is a map of what exists and who can get it; the guides explain what an offer means for your costs and plans.

Limits

Several offers are shown only inside a store's admin or sent by invitation. We can quote their published terms, but we cannot see or verify who is invited, so an invite-only row never means you will receive it.

A row marked not offered records what the pages we read do not describe, with the pages and the date. It is not proof that no such offer exists anywhere; Shopify can launch a promotion at any time.

Official pages sometimes disagree. Where two Shopify pages state different facts, such as the countries where Shopify Capital is available, both are shown, and your admin decides what applies to your store.

Offers change without notice. The date on each quote is the last time we read that page, and your admin and invoice are what count for your store.
