Which profit apps did we compare?
On November 4, 2026 we read App Store listings and kept those that were live, named net profit, true profit or profit analytics, and published a price or free plan. 16 passed. The table shows the three with the most reviews: we chose by review count and did not test any app. App Store search can't prove a list complete, so treat this as a dated snapshot.
| App | What sets the price | Entry paid plan | Free plan or trial | Rating (reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TrueProfit | Orders per month; every listed plan charges per extra order (entry plan: $0.3 each, maximum surcharge $300) | $35 a month for 300 orders a month | None listed; 14-day trial | 4.9 (923) |
| Lifetimely | Orders per month | $49 a month for up to 500 orders a month | Free plan and free trial | 4.9 (595) |
| BeProfit | An order limit; the top plan has unlimited orders | $49 a month for 450 orders | None listed; free trial | 4.5 (203) |
Read on each App Store listing, November 4, 2026; prices can display as a local-currency estimate. Rows follow review count, not quality.
All three entry plans start under $50 a month. TrueProfit starts lowest at $35 a month for 300 orders, but it charges for extra orders: by about 350 orders a month its entry plan reaches about $50, more than Lifetimely's or BeProfit's entry price.
None of these three shows the Built for Shopify badge on its listing.
Which costs does each app count?
All three count product costs and every line below.
Each cell says where we read the claim: the App Store listing, or the vendor's own help or site. These are the vendors' descriptions, not our test results.

| Refunds | Deducted from revenue (vendor help) | Deducted in net profit (vendor help) | Refunds (listing) |

TrueProfit's COGS Return credits back the cost of refunded items by default, assuming they return to inventory and can be resold, so a refund where nothing comes back can show profit your store did not make. Tick Exclude item's COGS from refunded orders if refunded items usually don't come back resellable. Lifetimely deducts payment fees using the rates in your settings, and two settings change how it processes refunds: one moves the refund date, the other resets product costs on every refunded order instead of only restocked ones.
Which app fits your store?
Pick the line that describes your store. Prices and review counts here come from the same November 4, 2026 listing read.
- You outgrow order limits: TrueProfit charges per extra order on every listed plan. BeProfit's top plan and every paid plan of Bloom, from $20 a month, list unlimited orders.
- You advertise on Bing or Snapchat: TrueProfit's listing and Lifetimely's help name both; BeProfit's listing shows Snapchat only in a screenshot and doesn't name Bing, so ask BeProfit before you install.
- You need retention numbers: Lifetimely's listing covers LTV, CAC and customer cohorts.
- Carrier bills don't match what you charge: BeProfit compares the two.
- Your budget is small: SimplyCost starts at $9.99 a month for up to 600 orders a month (4.8 from 72 reviews). GoProfit has a free plan for 50 orders a month and 2 ad channels (4.9 from 95 reviews, Built for Shopify). Juicy Profit Analytics has a free plan for up to 50 orders a month (4.9 from 103 reviews, Built for Shopify).
- You want a price tied to revenue: NetNet prices by monthly revenue, though it had 2 reviews.
The remaining eight listings had 7 reviews or fewer on that date, and seven had none, so there is almost no other merchants' experience to go on. All 16 are in this page's sources.
You may not need an app yet if you buy ads on one platform or none. That is our advice, not a published threshold: a line-by-line order breakdown in a spreadsheet does the same arithmetic, so the trade is your time against a monthly fee or a free plan's limits.
What do Shopify's profit reports count?
Shopify's profit reports start from your own product costs. In the product, variant and POS location reports, gross margin is (net sales − cost) / net sales × 100, and discounts and refunds already affect net sales. Profit appears only for products and variants that had a cost recorded when they sold, so a missing Cost per item leaves those sales out.
The Profit margin by order report comes closest to a per-order figure. Its metric list, read on November 4, 2026, names product costs, shipping costs, duties and import taxes, but not payment fees or ad spend.
Ad spend sits in Marketing reports, for channels that report cost data to Shopify, such as a connected ad platform. Shopify Payments fees sit in the Payments activity report. To see one net figure for each order, you either add those costs yourself or install an app that does it.
