Shopify Credit pays 3% cashback on eligible purchases in each month's top category, up to $250,000 a year, then 1%; other two categories 1%.
Top category
Set for each billing cycle; later returns don't change it.
Threshold year
Resets each year on the first day of the calendar month your account was approved.
How it's paid
Automatic statement credit, applied to your oldest outstanding balance first.
When cashback is lost
A statement not paid on time earns no cashback for the applicable billing cycle; closing the account forfeits rewards.

What rates does Shopify Credit cashback pay?

On your Shopify Credit card, your highest-spend category earns 3% cashback on up to $250,000 USD of eligible purchases a year, then 1% for the rest of that year; the other two categories earn 1%. These rates apply to spending since October 1, 2025.

That year is your account year: the $250,000 threshold resets each year on the first day of the calendar month your account was approved.

Which category earns the 3% rate each month?

Cashback counts in three categories: marketing and advertising, shipping and fulfillment, and wholesale. The 3% goes to whichever category had the highest spend in each billing cycle, which is one calendar month, though the first and last cycles may be shorter or longer. Once a cycle's top category is set, later returns don't change it.

Purchases outside the three categories earn no cashback, and each category counts purchases from select providers only, which Shopify's rewards page lists. Check what the Shopify Credit Rewards Terms exclude and whether your vendor accepts credit cards before you move an ad or shipping bill onto the card.

When is cashback credited, and when is it lost?

Cashback appears automatically as a statement credit on your Shopify Credit account, regardless of how you pay your balance. The credit goes to your oldest outstanding statement balance first, then the next-oldest, then the current cycle.

Refunds, canceled transactions and successful disputes can reduce your future cashback or post a debit to your account.

Conditions in the Rewards Terms
Under the Shopify Credit Rewards Terms, cashback appears after you pay in full the statement that holds the purchases, provided the account remains open and in good standing. A statement paid late earns no cashback for that billing cycle. Closing the account for any reason forfeits your rewards, earned or not yet earned.
