Do Shopify subscriptions work for B2B customers?

Published September 13, 2026·Last verified September 13, 2026·
At a glance
Short answer
No — Shopify lists Subscriptions among the features incompatible with B2B; recurring B2B orders run on draft orders or reorders instead.
Which plans have B2B
Basic, Grow, Advanced and Shopify Plus, at no extra cost; some features are Advanced- or Plus-only.
What the page defines
No B2B customer or company location on the order means D2C rates; the incompatible-with-B2B list names Subscriptions.
Third-party subscription apps
The list names Subscriptions as a feature and, separately, "some third-party apps": contact the app developer directly.
Documented instead
Draft orders that pull the company's prices and terms, or reorders by duplicating a past order from the account.
Flow reminders
No reorder reminder among the seven B2B Flow templates we found on the automations page, September 13, 2026.

Which features does Shopify list as incompatible with B2B?

Nine, as of September 13, 2026. Shopify's B2B considerations page opens the list with "The following features aren't compatible with B2B"Subscriptions is one of them:

  • Accelerated checkouts, including Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay
  • Local delivery
  • Pickup points
  • Tipping options
  • Subscriptions
  • Legacy customer accounts
  • Agentic storefronts
  • Some third-party apps (contact app developer directly)
  • Checkout customizations made to the checkout.liquid file

The list names Subscriptions as a feature, not one app; for "some third-party apps" its instruction is to contact the app developer directly.

B2B itself is included at no extra cost on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Shopify Plus; some features are Advanced- or Plus-only.

Can D2C customers of the same store still subscribe?

Shopify's B2B considerations page does not say. Its list of features that aren't compatible with B2B names Subscriptions and says nothing more about them, and the same page defines what makes an order B2B at all:

If your order or draft order doesn't have a B2B customer or a company location assigned, then D2C rates are applied.

So an order with no B2B customer or company location is not a B2B order; whether a blended store's D2C subscriptions keep working is not something Shopify's page states either way.

What does Shopify document for recurring B2B orders instead?

Two routes. First, a draft order: with a B2B customer and company location assigned, its prices, payment terms and checkout options follow that company's settings, and you can unlock the product prices when you send it as an invoice or checkout link.

Second, the buyer's side: from a B2B customer account tied to a company location, the buyer's list of actions includes "Place reorders by duplicating a past order".

Both routes need a hand each cycle — yours on the draft order, the buyer's on the reorder. What we did not find is a reminder: none of the seven B2B templates on the Shopify Flow automations page, read on September 13, 2026, sends a reorder prompt.
