Where is the sales map in Shopify Analytics?

Since October 28, 2026, bubble maps are available in reports and dashboard cards; each bubble is sized by the metric you choose.

Two ways to open the map
Ready-made report
  • Open Order hotspots by shipping location; it uses a bubble map by default
Your own report
  • Add Shipping address or Billing address to a report; with Visualization set to Recommended, the map turns on unless you chart more than 1 metric
  • Works with sales, payments and sales-tax data; fulfillment data maps by Shipping address only

Building your own report works on all Shopify plans; our Analytics guide lists what each plan includes. Staff need Analytics permissions, and you can't pick which reports they access.

How the bubble map counts your orders

Clusters depend on the current display area; none of the Help Center pages we read on October 29, 2026 describes a country, region or city setting. Clicking a bubble zooms in 3 levels, up to about city level.

  • Totals cover only the visible area, so the table under the map can differ from your store's overall totals.
  • Addresses at the same location count once, so a cluster's address count can be lower than its orders.
  • Zooming into a bubble doesn't filter the report to its addresses: the table still counts everything on screen.

Need one total per country? A bar chart or table groups by country, region or city, and Total sales by billing location shows each billing address's country or region.

Using hotspots to decide where to stock and fulfill

Shopify suggests using the bubbles to decide where to keep stock, fulfill from or focus regional marketing. For stock and fulfillment, group by Shipping address, the only address dimension for fulfillment data, and compare hotspots with your inventory value by location.

The bounds you zoom to are saved when you save the report, so save one report per region. Stock far from a hotspot? See multi-location inventory.
