Shopify vs Shoptet: Which Fits a Czech or Slovak Store?

Shopify vs Shoptet for a Czech or Slovak store: Shoptet's CZK plans, Shoptet Pay vs Shopify Payments, local integrations, and moving to Shopify.

Listen to a short brief of this article
Hands-free while you multitask

The short version

Shoptet fits a store selling in Czechia and Slovakia on Zásilkovna, Heureka and Pohoda, which its plans build in (Pohoda from Profi); Shopify fits a Czech business selling beyond the 22 European markets Shoptet counts, or a catalog past Shoptet Enterprise's 50,000 products. For a business based in Czechia, Shoptet Pay charges from 1.8% + 2.7 Kč per transaction on Shoptet Basic and Shopify Payments from 1.9% + 6.50 Kč on Shopify Basic.

At those minimum rates a 1,000 Kč order costs 20.70 Kč against 25.50 Kč. Slovakia is not on Shopify's list of Shopify Payments countries as of September 29, 2026, so a Slovak business on Shopify uses a third-party provider and pays Shopify's 2% fee on Basic.

The Quick Verdict
Key Takeaway: Shoptet wins for a store selling in Czechia and Slovakia that relies on Zásilkovna, Heureka and Pohoda (from Profi). Shopify wins for a Czech business selling beyond the 22 European markets Shoptet counts, or a catalog past Shoptet Enterprise's 50,000 products. A Slovak business should settle payments first: Shopify Payments is not listed for Slovakia.

What Shoptet Is

Key takeaway

Shoptet rents you a complete online store: you pick a plan, and the platform and hosting come with it, the same model Shopify follows. The difference is the home market. Shoptet prices its plans in Czech koruna on its Czech price list and in euros on its Slovak one, and its local delivery, comparison-site and accounting connections are built for Czech merchants.

It is a large player at home. Shoptet's homepage counted more than 48,000 businesses using it in September 2026, by the company's own figure, and Shoptet describes itself in its press releases as the ecommerce leader in Central and Eastern Europe. Four terms from its pricing page set it apart from a typical subscription:

Hosting is in the price
Shoptet's pricing page says the rental price includes web hosting, which Shoptet runs itself.
No commission on turnover
You pay for the e-shop rental only; Shoptet says it takes no commission on the sales your store makes.
No fixed contract term
Shoptet states that the contract with it is not bound to any time commitment.
30-day trial at the top tier
For 30 days a trial store has every feature of the Enterprise plan, and a basic Shoptet Pokladna POS comes with all plans.

What Shoptet Costs Next to Shopify

Key takeaway

Shoptet's plan ladder is also a catalog ladder. Each step up raises the number of products you can list, and the Czech and Slovak price lists charge for the same plans in their own currencies. Both lists state their prices before VAT.

Sources: Shoptet Czech price list and Shoptet Slovak price list, monthly billing, prices before VAT, read September 29, 2026.

Shoptet also lists a Free plan, but foreign languages are not available on it, so it fits a store selling in one language. Paying ahead lowers the bill: Shoptet's price list gives 10% off for a year paid up front. Shoptet's 2025 plan-change post announced the price list that took effect from September 2025, so a comparison written before then may quote older Shoptet prices.

On the Shopify side the catalog size doesn't decide the plan: Shopify's pricing page lists “Sell unlimited products” on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus.

Shopify Basic costs $39 a month, or $29 a month billed yearly, on Shopify's US pricing page. Shopify's Czech pricing page gives Basic in koruna: 670 Kč a month, or 499 Kč a month billed yearly. As we read it, that page does not say whether these prices include VAT, while Shoptet's prices are before VAT. If Ecwid is also on your shortlist, our Shopify vs Ecwid comparison runs the same checks for it.

Card Payments: Shoptet Pay vs Shopify Payments

Key takeaway

Payment fees are the running cost that grows with every order, so this is where the comparison is closest to a money decision. Three questions decide it: can you use the platform's own processor, what does each card payment cost, and what happens if you keep a provider you already use.

Is Shopify Payments Available in Czechia and Slovakia?

Key takeaway

Shopify Payments is available to a business by where the business is located, not by where its customers are. Shopify's supported-countries page lists Czechia; Slovakia is not on it as of September 29, 2026 (the surfaces we checked are in the box under “Can You Move a Shoptet Store to Shopify?”). The page is explicit about what a business outside the list does:

If your country isn't listed, or if Shopify Payments doesn't support your business category, then you need to use a third-party payment provider.
Shopify Help Center — Shopify Payments supported countries ·

For a business in Czechia the setup is local. Shopify's requirements for Czechia say the payout account must be in EUR, or in CZK if the bank account is based in Czechia. Its payment-methods page for Czechia lists Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express and UnionPay cards, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Which countries Shopify Payments covers overall is set out in our Shopify Payments guide's country section.

What Each Card Payment Costs

Key takeaway

Both processors publish a rate per plan, and both rates are minimums: Shoptet Pay quotes each tier “from” a figure on its price list, and Shopify's Czech pricing page does the same for Shopify Payments. The two ladders belong to different plans with different subscription prices, so read the table as two separate lists, not as matching pairs.

Online card rates on each platform, by plan
Platform and planOnline card payment, fromWho can use it
Shoptet Pay — Shoptet Basic1.8% + 2.7 KčShoptet merchants only
Shoptet Pay — Shoptet Business1.6% + 2.6 KčShoptet merchants only

Shoptet Pay — Shoptet Enterprise1.19% + 1.9 KčShoptet merchants only
Shopify Payments — Shopify Basic1.9% + 6.50 KčBusinesses located in Czechia

Shopify Payments — Shopify Advanced1.6% + 6.50 KčBusinesses located in Czechia
Shopify Payments — Shopify Plus1.3% + 6.50 KčBusinesses located in Czechia

Sources: Shoptet Pay price list and Shopify pricing for Czechia, read September 29, 2026. Shopify's rates are for standard cards; American Express and international cards cost 2.9% + 6.50 Kč on Basic.

One 1,000 Kč card order at the entry tiers: Shoptet Pay on Shoptet Basic takes 20.70 Kč (1.8% plus 2.7 Kč), and Shopify Payments on Shopify Basic takes 25.50 Kč (1.9% plus 6.50 Kč). The fixed part per transaction is what separates them on small orders; on larger orders the percentage matters more, and neither figure includes the monthly subscription.

Two conditions sit on the Shoptet side. Shoptet Pay's own site says it is available only to Shoptet merchants, and its price list says its fees are not set by your store's turnover, so the published route to a lower rate is a higher Shoptet plan. How Shopify's rate changes by country is answered country by country in our guide to Shopify Payments rates by country.

Keeping a Czech Gateway on Shopify

Key takeaway

Many Czech stores already have a contract with a local gateway. Comgate, for one, has a listing on the Shopify App Store offering cards, QR transfers, bank buttons and buy-now-pay-later. Its listing tells you the gateway can connect; it does not tell you what the connection costs on Shopify's side.

The fee Shopify adds when you don't use Shopify Payments

When an order is paid through a provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify charges its own transaction fee on top of the provider's: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus, per Shopify's pricing page as of September 2026. On the 1,000 Kč order above, that is 20 Kč on Basic before the gateway takes its share.

This is the same fee a Slovak business pays on Shopify by necessity, since Shopify Payments is not an option there. The plan-by-plan detail is in our breakdown of Shopify's third-party gateway fees.

Shoptet's pricing page says you pay only for the e-shop rental and that Shoptet takes no commission on the turnover your store makes. Before you plan around a particular gateway on Shoptet, though, confirm with Shoptet that it connects.

Czech Integrations: Built In or Added by App

Key takeaway

For a store selling at home, the tools that matter are the parcel network, the comparison site and the accounting software. The table shows where each one sits on Shoptet's plans and what the Shopify App Store offered when we looked.

Zásilkovna, Heureka, Pohoda and parcel exports on each platform

Sources: Shoptet price list plan comparison (prices before VAT) and Shopify App Store listings, read September 29, 2026. App lists are a dated snapshot, not a complete inventory.

The difference is who carries the connection. On Shoptet the plan does, and third parties such as Zásilkovna may still bill their own fees. On Shopify each local tool is a separate app with its own developer, pricing and upkeep. For Heureka, the app named Heureka collects reviews, while feed apps such as Mulwi and FeedFix list Heureka among the channels they work with; we did not test whether they send your catalog to the comparison site.

That reliance on apps is one of Shopify's structural costs, and it is worth weighing before a Czech store commits. We cover it, alongside Shopify's other weak spots, in our look at the app-dependency cost of Shopify.

Selling Beyond Czechia and Slovakia

Key takeaway

On Shoptet, a second language is a feature of the paid plans: Shoptet's help page on foreign languages says any number of the available languages can be added on any paid plan and that the Free plan doesn't support them. Shoptet's price list includes foreign languages on Enterprise and sells them as a 400 Kč monthly add-on before VAT on Basic, Business and Profi.

Shoptet's expansion page puts the choice of storefront languages at 21, including products, payments and delivery, and says Shoptet stores can expand into 22 European markets, by its own count. Foreign currencies are a separate feature that converts prices on the store and on documents.

On Shopify, the localization guide allows up to 20 selling languages on Basic, Grow, Shopify and Advanced and up to 30 on Plus. The admin itself can run in Czech or Slovak, both listed on Shopify's admin languages page. For the checkout, the one page every buyer sees, Shopify's guide states:

The checkout has pre-translated content for 33 languages.
Shopify Help Center — Localization and translation ·

Czech and Slovak are both on that list of 33, so a Czech or Slovak buyer sees a checkout in their own language without extra work. How Shopify organises selling to several countries at once is the subject of our Shopify Markets guide.

For a store selling within Europe, the language count does not decide between the two. Shoptet's 21 languages sit beside Shopify's 20 below Plus, and the 22 markets Shoptet counts are European.

The difference shows further out: a store that plans to sell beyond the markets on Shoptet's expansion page, or needs more than 21 storefront languages (Shopify Plus allows 30), is where Shopify's 33-language checkout and, for a business in Czechia, Shopify Payments carry weight. Inside those 22 markets, compare the per-order fees in the rates table before you decide.

EU VAT and the One-Stop Shop

Key takeaway

Selling from Czechia or Slovakia to buyers elsewhere in the EU brings in destination-country VAT. Shopify's EU tax reference describes the One-Stop Shop, or Union OSS, as the scheme for merchants within the EU whose sales to other member countries require them to charge and remit VAT based on the destination country. Shopify's setup guide adds the condition:

You can only use OSS if your store uses Shopify Tax or Basic Tax as your tax service.
Shopify Help Center — Setting up taxes in the European Union ·

In the EU, Basic Tax is available only if your store was set up to collect tax there before May 13, 2026, so a store set up later can use OSS only through Shopify Tax. Rates and registration thresholds are a subject of their own, and they depend on where your goods sit when you sell them. Whether your store needs the Union OSS or the import scheme is settled in our IOSS vs OSS answer for Shopify stores.

Can You Move a Shoptet Store to Shopify?

Key takeaway

Shopify's migration pages we read do not name Shoptet. Shopify's migration hub lists ten platform guides (Amazon, Clover, Etsy, eBay, GoDaddy, Lightspeed, Square, Squarespace, Wix and WooCommerce), and the Store Migration app's listing names eight source platforms: Square, WooCommerce, Etsy, Wix, Amazon, eBay, Clover and Lightspeed. Shopify's hub lists five ways to move content from any platform, and the CSV route reads:

Export your data into CSV files, and import them to your new Shopify store (some data can't be migrated this way)
Shopify Help Center — Migrating to Shopify ·

The same page lists four other routes (copy and paste, a migration app, a Shopify Partner, a custom build on the Shopify API) and notes that a catalog of 250 products likely needs a CSV file or an app. For a Shoptet catalog that leaves three practical ways to move:

  • CSV files: bring your data into Shopify's CSV format, import it, then check what did not carry over.
  • A migration app or service: the two large migration services we checked, Cart2Cart and LitExtension, did not show Shoptet on the public lists of supported platforms we read.
  • A Shopify Partner: someone who maps your Shoptet data to Shopify's format and runs the import for you, or builds a custom migration on the Shopify API.
What we looked for and did not find

On September 29, 2026 we read Shopify's migration hub and its list of platform guides, the Store Migration app's App Store listing, Shopify's Shopify Payments supported-countries page, Cart2Cart's list of supported carts, and LitExtension's supported-carts page with its App Store listing. None of the migration pages named Shoptet as a source platform, and Slovakia was not on the Shopify Payments list.

Parts of the two migrators' lists may load in ways our reading did not capture, so ask them directly before you rule them out. The absence on those pages is the finding, not a guarantee about every page.

The only migration guide we found between the two platforms runs the other way. Shoptet's help center has a guide for moving from Shopify to Shoptet, which says the move can be done yourself and free of charge but that only some data can be exported from Shopify and brought across. How the migration methods compare on effort and cost is laid out in our migration guide's comparison of methods.

The Bottom Line

Key takeaway

The two platforms answer different questions. Shoptet is built around the Czech and Slovak market and prices its plans in koruna or euros; Shopify sells unlimited products on every plan from Basic up and pre-translates its checkout into 33 languages, and has you add the local pieces through apps.

Choose by where your customers will be in two years, not where they are today. If they stay in Czechia and Slovakia, Shoptet's built-in local tools save you work. If they will reach beyond the 22 European markets Shoptet counts, start on Shopify now rather than moving a Shoptet store later without a dedicated migration route; in between, compare the per-order fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on where you sell. Shoptet suits a store selling in Czechia and Slovakia that leans on Zásilkovna, Heureka and Pohoda, which Shoptet plans include, with Pohoda from Profi. Shopify suits a store that sells beyond the 22 European markets Shoptet counts, with unlimited products from Basic up and a checkout pre-translated into 33 languages. A Slovak business should check payments first.
On Shoptet's Czech price list, read on September 29, 2026 and billed monthly before 21% VAT, Basic costs 440 Kč, Business 1,490 Kč, Profi 2,490 Kč and Enterprise 4,690 Kč a month, and Premium starts from 12,000 Kč. The Slovak list prices the same four plans at €16.50, €55, €91 and €173.50 a month before VAT, and Premium from €500.
No. Shoptet's pricing page says you pay only for the e-shop rental and that it takes no commission on your store's turnover. Card processing is a separate charge: Shoptet Pay, Shoptet's own gateway, starts at 1.8% + 2.7 Kč per transaction on Shoptet Basic and falls on higher Shoptet plans, as of September 2026.
Yes. Czechia is on Shopify's list of Shopify Payments countries, and payouts go to a EUR account or, for a bank account in Czechia, a CZK account. As of September 2026, Shopify's Czech pricing page quotes online card rates from 1.9% + 6.50 Kč on Basic, falling to 1.3% + 6.50 Kč on Plus.
Not on the list we read. Slovakia does not appear on Shopify's Shopify Payments supported-countries page as of September 29, 2026. Shopify's Help Center says that if your country isn't listed, you need a third-party payment provider, and Shopify then adds its own fee on those orders: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced.
Shoptet Pay's price list, read on September 29, 2026, sets the minimum rate by Shoptet plan: 1.8% + 2.7 Kč on Basic, 1.6% + 2.6 Kč on Business, 1.4% + 2.2 Kč on Profi and 1.19% + 1.9 Kč on Enterprise. The rate follows your Shoptet plan, not your turnover, and Shoptet Pay is available only to Shoptet merchants.
Partly, through apps. On September 29, 2026 the Shopify App Store listed a Zásilkovna (Packeta) app for pickup points, order export and cash on delivery. The app named Heureka is a reviews badge, while feed apps such as Mulwi and FeedFix list Heureka among their channels; we did not test these apps. On Shoptet, Zásilkovna+ and Heureka are available on every plan.
Yes. Shopify's Help Center lists Czech and Slovak among the languages the Shopify admin can be switched to. Separately, Shopify's checkout comes pre-translated into 33 languages, Czech and Slovak included, and a store on Basic, Grow, Shopify or Advanced can sell in up to 20 languages, or up to 30 on Plus.
Yes, but not through a Shoptet-specific route. None of the Shopify migration pages we read on September 29, 2026 names Shoptet, and Shopify's Store Migration app names eight other platforms. The routes Shopify lists for any platform are copy and paste, CSV import, a migration app, a Shopify Partner or a custom build on the Shopify API. Some data can't move through CSV files.
It depends on the plan. Shoptet's price list allows up to 100 products on Basic, 1,000 on Business, 5,000 on Profi, 50,000 on Enterprise and up to 100,000 on Premium. Shopify's pricing page lists unlimited products on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, so on Shopify the catalog size doesn't decide the plan.
Yes. Shoptet gives 30 days to try its e-shop, and during that period the trial store has every feature of the top Enterprise plan. Shoptet also lists a Free plan, which does not support foreign languages. Paying a year ahead cuts the rental by 10%, according to Shoptet's price list.
It can. Shopify's Help Center says the One-Stop Shop is for EU merchants whose sales to other EU countries require destination-country VAT, and that you can only use OSS with Shopify Tax or Basic Tax. In the EU, Basic Tax is only for stores set up to collect tax there before May 13, 2026; a store set up later needs Shopify Tax for OSS.
