Can one Shopify transfer have more than one shipment?

Yes. Shopify creates a single shipment for a transfer automatically; to send items in separate batches, add shipments while the transfer is Ready to ship or In progress.

Each shipment has its own shipment ID, such as T289-1, with its own status and tracking, and you can receive each shipment separately.

No page we read on September 15, 2026 — the Help Center pages on creating, receiving and scanning transfers — names a maximum number of shipments per transfer, and none states outright that a Transferred transfer refuses a new shipment; Ready to ship or In progress is the only status condition those pages give for adding one.

Second shipment or partial receipt: what is the difference?

Receive partially when one shipment arrives incomplete: the shipment's own status reads Partially received, and the transfer remains In progress until you receive the remaining items.

Add a second shipment when a batch travels separately — it gets its own tracking and its own cost adjustments.

When does received stock become Available to sell?

Accept, and the inventory becomes available at the destination location — incoming stock automatically changes to Available once received — unless the product isn't stocked there.

Transferring records quantity at the destination but doesn't activate the product there, so for an unstocked product you choose whether to make it available when you save — why a product you just received can still show as sold out.

Reject records the inventory on the transfer but doesn't change quantities at any location; Cancel is for items never shipped from the origin location.

You can edit the accepted, rejected or canceled quantities in a received shipment to correct a receipt; unlinking a purchase order does not undo a receipt.
