The short version
Install the Printful app from the Shopify App Store or start from your Printful Dashboard, then log in through the app inside Shopify, and Printful says the connection is complete when that app shows an embedded Printful Dashboard.
Add a payment method before your first order, because with automatic confirmation Printful charges it as soon as the order is imported.
Your customer pays you in Shopify, Printful bills you separately for production and shipping, and the difference is yours.
Printful pushes flat shipping rates to Shopify when you sync a product, while its live rates need a Shopify plan that allows carrier-calculated shipping.
Shopify doesn't print or ship your products itself, so connecting Printful means installing a third-party app and then working across three places: your Shopify admin, the app and your Printful Dashboard. Shopify's print on demand page gives a general overview and points to each app's own documentation for the steps. The connection itself is one install and one login; the decisions that cost money come after it. This guide covers both from Printful's help and Shopify's pages, read on November 2 and 4, 2026.
One thing to clear up first. Printful and Printify announced their merger on November 5, 2024, but they continue as separate brands with separate apps, so nothing here applies to Printify. If that is the service you picked, our Printify connection guide covers its own steps and billing.
How to Connect Printful to Shopify
Key takeaway
There are two ways in, and both end at the same step. Printful's connection guide starts in your Shopify admin and also lets you begin in your Printful Dashboard. Either way, you finish by logging in to your Printful account through the embedded app.
What to Check Before You Connect
Key takeaway
- A Printful account. Printful's guide has you sign up for both platforms before you connect them, and the connection step itself is a login.
- A store that isn't linked elsewhere. Printful names a store "already connected to a different Printful account" as a reason the connection fails. The fix sits in that other account, in its Remove store section, and removing deletes the products published to that store through Printful.
- A paid plan if you are on a trial. Printful says that if you start Shopify's free 3-day trial you should select a paid plan before it expires: "Otherwise, your store will be disconnected from Printful upon trial expiration." Shopify's own help says trial length can vary, and that a store with no paid plan is frozen when the trial ends.
- Markets if you sell abroad. Printful warns that without them "customers from certain countries won't be able to check out." It names two buttons on the Markets page: Create market to select countries by hand, and Create International Market to use Shopify's presets.
- Markets
Starting From the Shopify Admin or App Store
Key takeaway
- Go to your Shopify admin and click Apps.
- Add the Printful app. If you don't see it, open the Shopify App Store and search for Printful; the listing is Printful: Print on Demand.
- Click Install, review what the app asks to access, and click Install again in the dialog.
- Apps
- Printful: Print on Demand
- Log in to your Printful account through the embedded app in Shopify.
Printful gives one test for whether this worked: "When connection is complete, the app should display an embedded Printful Dashboard." If you still see the sign-in screen in the app, the connection isn't complete, and Printful's advice is to try signing in again. What our test store showed has its own section further down.
Starting From Your Printful Dashboard
Key takeaway
Printful's guide gives this path: in your Printful Dashboard, go to Stores > Choose your store platform > Shopify > Connect. Some Dashboard layouts show My products where others show Stores. From the Shopify Apps connection page, the install and login steps are the ones above.
If you would rather watch the whole path first, Printful's own channel published this setup guide in October 2025. Its chapters run from creating accounts through shipping profiles, live rates and the Wallet, but not order confirmation or disconnecting. Button names may have moved since, so where the video and the steps here differ, go by Printful's current help.
Your Printful Setup Checklist, in Order
Key takeaway
The order matters in two places. Billing comes before your first order because the charge can land at import, and the shipping step depends on your Shopify plan. Each step is explained in the sections below. Tick the steps as you go; your progress is saved in this browser.
Connect Printful to Shopify, step by stepTick each step as you finish it, and come back after your first order for the last one.
Connect Printful to Shopify, step by step
Tick each step as you finish it, and come back after your first order for the last one.
Have a Printful account ready and, if you are on a Shopify trial, a paid plan picked before it expires.
Before you tick this off
- Printful account created, or its login to hand
- Paid Shopify plan selected if you are on the free trial
- Store is not connected to a different Printful account
Add markets in Shopify for the countries you sell to, because Printful warns that customers elsewhere may not be able to check out.
Before you tick this off
- Markets created for every country you plan to sell to
- Each destination you sell to belongs to an active market
Add Printful: Print on Demand from Apps or the App Store, then log in through the embedded app.
Before you tick this off
- Listing shows support provided by Printful Latvia AS
- Logged in through the app inside your Shopify admin
- The app shows an embedded Printful Dashboard, not a sign-in screen
Set a primary billing method in Printful so an order isn't marked Failed for an empty Wallet with no billing method.
Before you tick this off
- Card or PayPal added as the primary billing method
- Billing method assigned to this store, if you run several
- Auto-recharge switched on, or deliberately left off
- Billing currency read in Store billing settings
- Resale certificate approved before your first US orders, if you plan to use one
Choose how paid orders reach Printful and whether they are confirmed automatically or by you.
Before you tick this off
- After an order has been paid is set in Settings > General > Order processing
- Automatic or manual confirmation chosen in Printful's Store settings > Orders
Publish a product from the Dashboard, or sync a listing you already have in Shopify.
Before you tick this off
- The variant shows as Synced in the Printful Dashboard
- Printful is listed as a location in the variant's Inventory section
- Any listing you imported is a physical product and not a draft
Keep the flat rates Printful pushes when you sync, or switch to live rates if your Shopify plan allows them.
Before you tick this off
- Shopify plan checked against the live-rate condition
- Live-rates box saved in Printful's Store settings > Shipping, if you are switching
- General profile reviewed by hand after switching
Watch one paid order import, get charged and ship, without changing its status by hand.
Before you tick this off
- The order appeared in your Printful Dashboard
- The charge landed when your confirmation mode says it should
- You did not mark the order as Fulfilled yourself
- Tracking reached the order in Shopify
How to Add and Sync Printful Products
Key takeaway
A Shopify listing alone isn't enough for Printful to produce an order. It also needs to know which catalog product to use, which design file to print and where to place it. In Printful's words, "Syncing is the process of linking your store product to this fulfillment information in Printful."
Printful's add and sync article gives two routes, and its sync article adds a third way of timing the second one.
Which way fits your product
| Your situation | Route | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| You are creating a new product from Printful's catalog | Publish from the Dashboard: open your store under Stores or My products > Published, click Add product or Create product, then finish with Submit to store or Continue | The product appears in Shopify with mockups, description and pricing, and it is synced from the start |
| The listing already exists in Shopify, or you build listings there | Manual sync: bring it into the Dashboard, then click Edit > Choose product, or Sync product under the Imported tab | The listing keeps its reviews and traffic; you assign the Printful product and design to each variant |
| You have a large catalog and don't want to sync all of it up front | Sync as you go: Dashboard > Settings > Store settings > Orders > Sync as you go | Printful says first-time orders must be manually confirmed and each variant synced the first time it appears in an order, so fulfillment may be delayed. Its articles differ on Shopify: one says only Import existing products needs to be on, another says to click Request fulfillment on an order with unsynced products |
Source: Printful Help Center, add and sync, manual sync and sync status articles, read November 2 and 4, 2026.
Bringing Existing Shopify Products Into Printful
Key takeaway
Printful's articles use two names for the same switch: Import existing products, under Settings > Store settings > Orders, and Import not synced products, a toggle on your store's page under Stores. Once it is on, Stores > your store > Refresh data brings in your latest Shopify products. Each variant then carries one of three statuses:
- Synced: fully connected, so Printful can import and fulfill its orders.
- Not synced: the listing exists but isn't linked, so its orders aren't imported by default.
- Ignored: deliberately excluded from fulfillment. For Shopify stores, Printful calls this Fulfillment disabled.
Three limits shape what you see in that list. Printful imports only physical products, and draft products in Shopify won't sync. It pulls in only manual collections, not automated ones. And turning the import off or removing unsynced products from the Dashboard "won't delete your listings on your storefront."
This route also works if you are moving to Printful from another print on demand app. Printful says manual sync lets you link your current listings to Printful products "to retain existing reviews and traffic." You still add or review the design and assign the variants yourself, though Printful's sync wizard may offer to apply the same settings across other variants.
What Not to Change in Shopify
Key takeaway
None of Printful's 471 help articles we searched on November 2, 2026 gives a full list of the Shopify fields you can't change, so treat the table as risks Printful names, not as permission for everything else.
Changes Printful names
| What you do | What happens | Do this instead |
|---|---|---|
| Delete a product in the Printful Dashboard while it is still in your store | The product is deleted from your storefront too | Use the unsync or ignore options, which stop fulfillment without touching the listing |
| Edit one of Printful's shipping profiles in Shopify | Your changes are overwritten during the next sync | Create a custom profile in Shopify for your own rules |
| Mark a Printful order as Fulfilled by hand in Shopify | Printful can't update the order with tracking information | Leave the status alone and let Printful send it |
| Remove an item from an imported order and add a product by hand before fulfillment | The connection Printful uses to send tracking back can break | If it has already happened, send the tracking to your customer yourself and mark the order as fulfilled |
| Set a Printful product's location to something other than Printful | Printful can't import the order or fulfill it | Keep Printful listed as a location on every Printful variant |
| Add a new variant to a synced listing in Shopify | The variant shows as Not synced because it has no print info yet, and its orders won't import by default | Sync the new variant, or add variants from the Dashboard with Edit > Add variants |
| Edit stock counts by hand in Shopify | Printful says this "can lead to inaccuracies" | Leave inventory to Printful's stock sync |

Printful Shipping Settings in Shopify: Flat or Live Rates
Key takeaway
Your choice comes down to your Shopify plan and how often customers buy several items at once. Printful's shipping article sets out the two routes, and custom profiles in Shopify are the third.
Which rate setup fits
| Setup | Who it suits | Shopify plan | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Printful flat rates | You want rates in place as soon as a product syncs | No plan condition in Printful's article | Two or more items from one profile are charged shipping for one item |
| Printful live rates | You want a rate calculated from the order's weight, destination and delivery speed | Advanced or Plus, or Grow with carrier-calculated shipping added | Synced Printful products only, and Printful's flat-rate profiles are removed |
| Your own Shopify profiles | You need rules of your own, or products Printful doesn't fulfill | No Printful plan condition | Printful's shipping price updates won't sync to a custom profile |
Source: Printful Help Center, shipping, live rates and integration errors articles, read November 2 and 4, 2026.
Whichever you pick, Printful doesn't replace or disable your other profiles itself.
How Printful Flat Rates Reach Shopify
Key takeaway
"When you sync a product from Printful to Shopify, we'll automatically push the correct shipping profile to your Shopify store," Printful says. It doesn't recommend editing those profiles, because "any changes will be overwritten during the next sync." For rules of your own, create a custom profile in Shopify.
The catch is in multi-item carts. If a customer buys two or more items from the same profile, Shopify "will still only charge shipping for one item, not per item." That limit is on what your customer pays at checkout, not on what Printful bills you, so compare the two on a multi-item order.
Printful offers four ways around it: live rates, free shipping with the cost included in your retail price, custom profiles with different pricing logic, or a third-party shipping app.
Printful also states that Shopify caps stores at 100 delivery profiles; Shopify's own help says you can create up to 99 custom shipping profiles, beside the general profile that every store has. At the limit Printful states, new Printful profiles can't be created, so a store that already runs many profiles needs to clear unused ones first.
Which Shopify Plan Do Printful Live Rates Need?
Key takeaway
Gate one is your Shopify plan. Printful lists Advanced and Plus, plus Grow with the feature added. On Grow, it says to contact Shopify Support and that enabling it "costs an additional 20 USD per month."
Shopify's carrier-calculated shipping page states the Grow condition differently and names no sum: "Shopify Grow stores can add CCS for an additional monthly fee or by switching to annual billing."
- Settings
- Plan
If your plan isn't one of those, expect no live rates: Printful says they aren't available on Basic stores created after January 1, 2023, and Shopify's carrier accounts table marks all other plans "Not available" for third-party carrier-calculated shipping. Shopify's developer documentation sets a general rule for any app that supplies rates, without naming Printful: if a store changes plan and no longer meets the requirements, its link to the carrier service is deactivated. Check this before you downgrade.
Gate two is the switch itself, and it changes your setup. Printful's article gives the steps: in your Printful Dashboard, go to Settings > Store settings > Shipping, check Enable Printful's live shipping rates for your storefront and click Save. Printful then removes its flat-rate profiles and reassigns your products to Shopify's General profile.
Live rates apply only to synced products, and not to non-Printful products or items in Printful's warehouse. Printful also warns that it won't revert changes made to the General profile the way it does with flat rates, so review that profile by hand. If you are weighing this against other apps, our guide covers when an app can show its rates at your checkout.
Free Shipping on Printful Products
With live rates, Printful can't apply free shipping to specific products: free shipping "can either be enabled for all Printful products or none at all." Printful also says you can create free shipping rules in Shopify for specific products or orders, on your custom profiles. Either way, shipping is free only for your customer, because "Printful will still charge you for shipping when orders are imported," so the cost has to fit inside your retail price. The setup steps are in Printful's article.
Carts With Printful and Other Products
Key takeaway
Shopify's combined rates page describes what the customer sees: "the separate shipping rates for each product are combined and a single shipping rate is displayed to your customer at checkout." Printful's article on mixed stores agrees, and the items themselves still ship in separate parcels.
Printful's advice for showing both sets of options separately is to enable Split shipping in Settings > Shipping and delivery. Shopify's split shipping page sets the boundary: after an upgrade to shipping options by market, "the setting to activate or deactivate it no longer applies, and what your customer pays for a split order depends on your rate types."
- Settings
- Shipping and delivery
Which case is yours depends on your store. Shopify's help page, read on November 4, 2026, labels shipping options by market early access and "available only to certain stores," while its developer changelog says all merchants will be on it by July 1, 2027.
Shopify also says stores that use shipping apps "might be upgraded later, after those apps become compatible." That page speaks of shipping apps in general, not Printful by name. To see where you stand today, use our guide on which shipping system your store is on.
How Printful Charges You for Orders
Key takeaway
The money moves twice, in two separate payments. Printful puts the arrangement in one line:
Printful bills you for fulfillment, not your end customers.
That is why Printful's order charges don't come out of your Shopify payout. Printful says it "never receives funds directly from your buyers (with the exception of Quick Stores)," and for the same reason refunds to your customers are yours to issue in Shopify. Refunds from Printful to you go back into your Wallet.
When that charge lands depends on your confirmation setting: at import with automatic confirmation, or when you confirm with manual. Choose between the two before your first order.
Setting Up a Payment Method and the Wallet
Key takeaway
Printful accepts credit or debit cards as well as PayPal, and every transaction runs through the Printful Wallet, whichever you choose.
How to fund Printful orders
| Method | How it works | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Credit or debit card | As your primary billing method, it is charged the amount an order needs, and that money passes through the Wallet | Printful names a card issued outside the US being declined as a common cause of a failed charge; ask your bank whether international and online payments are on |
| PayPal | Works the same way as a card when set as the primary billing method | Printful's other common cause is PayPal's Address Verification Failure: the delivery address doesn't match the one your customer gave PayPal |
| Manual Wallet top-up | Billing > Printful Wallet > Add money; future orders are paid from that balance | You can withdraw only the full balance, not a custom amount |
Source: Printful Help Center, billing and Wallet articles, read November 2 and 4, 2026.
Three settings decide whether an order can be paid. Auto-recharge is off by default. An empty Wallet with no primary billing method means orders "will be marked as Failed until payment is provided." And if you run several stores, Store billing settings lets you pick a billing method for each one.
Which Currency Printful Charges In
Key takeaway
Printful's billing article says "Printful charges you in the currency you've set for your store," and its currency article separates that from your storefront: "Yes, you can run your online store in one currency while paying Printful in another."
A third article names the setting: "You can set different currencies for each store connected to your Printful account." We read all three on November 4, 2026.
Printful's articles put it under Billing > Billing methods > Store billing settings in your Printful account, so read the currency set there before your first order. If you change it, Printful says to update your payment method too, so your orders go through.
US Sales Tax and Resale Certificates
Key takeaway
- When it applies. Printful charges sales tax "on orders that are fulfilled and shipped within the US, based on the delivery address of the order."
- When a certificate starts counting. Printful reviews it within 2 business days, and once a certificate is approved for a state, Printful stops charging sales tax on orders shipped there for the product categories you selected; "orders placed before approval will still be charged sales tax, even if you submitted your certificate earlier."
- What changes afterwards. Once approved, "you'll then be responsible for collecting and remitting the sales tax when you sell the product."
So get the certificate approved before your first US orders if you plan to use one. The tax you owe on your own sales is a separate question, which our Shopify sales tax guide covers.
Do You Need the Growth Plan to Connect?
No. Printful's free tier includes the "ability to connect unlimited stores." Growth costs $24.99 a month and is free for a whole year once yearly sales hit $12,000, as of November 2, 2026. It doesn't turn on by itself, and if you registered via Shopify, Shopify handles the plan payment. Whether it pays for your store is a separate sum, worked through in our comparison of when the paid tier pays off.
What Happens When an Order Comes In
Key takeaway
Two separate things happen to every order: it has to reach Printful, and then Printful has to be allowed to charge and fulfill it. Printful's import article sets the first condition plainly: "Printful only imports orders that are fully paid." The table covers reaching Printful, and the next section covers confirmation.
What an order needs to reach Printful
| What the order needs | Where to check | If it isn't met |
|---|---|---|
| Fully paid, Unfulfilled, with at least one synced product | The order page in Shopify; sync status under Stores in the Printful Dashboard | Printful doesn't import it automatically; with manual capture, capture the payment first |
| Automatically fulfill the order's line items selected in Shopify, Printful's fallback import setting on, or a manual request | Settings > General > Order processing, under After an order has been paid; for the fallback, Printful's Settings > Store settings > Orders > Sync as you go | The order waits until you click Request fulfillment, and changing the Shopify setting doesn't affect existing orders |
| Printful listed as the inventory location on the variant | The variant's Inventory section on the product in Shopify | Printful can't import the order or fulfill it; update the location there |
Source: Printful Help Center, order import, import settings and order processing articles, read November 2 and 4, 2026.
- Settings
- General
If you pick Don't fulfill any of the order's line items automatically, Printful says you trigger each import yourself by clicking Request fulfillment from the order view, unless you turn on the fallback below for synced orders.
- Orders
- Select an order
Printful's location check sits on the variant, and it is what to look at first when orders for one product go missing.
- Products
- Select a product
- Select a variant

Printful also offers a fallback for stores that can't use Shopify's automatic fulfillment: Automatically import orders with synced products, under Settings > Store settings > Orders > Sync as you go in the Dashboard. It recommends the Shopify setting first, and it warns that the fallback "can cause conflicts with apps that manage orders post-purchase (such as upsell apps)."
Automatic or Manual Order Confirmation
Key takeaway
Printful puts this setting in your Dashboard under Settings > Store settings > Orders, and it decides when the money moves.
Two confirmation modes
| What differs | Automatic confirmation | Manual confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Setting in Printful | Automatically confirm orders to be fulfilled | Manually confirm all imported orders |
| When you are charged | As soon as the order is imported from Shopify | Once you confirm the order |
| What you do | Nothing, as long as your billing is set up; orders that meet the import criteria move to fulfillment without waiting for you, except personalized orders, which Printful says always import as drafts, and orders with unsynced items, which it says go to fulfillment once all products are synced | Check or edit each imported draft, then send it to fulfillment |
| Limit | Printful's help names no review window, as of November 2, 2026 | Bulk approval takes up to 100 orders in a batch, one store at a time |
Source: Printful Help Center, order review and bulk approval articles and the import articles above, read November 2 and 4, 2026.
You can't simply turn automatic confirmation off. Printful says "there's no separate 'disable' option; manual confirmation replaces automatic confirmation," so the choice is always one or the other.
The 85 Printful help articles that mention confirmation, searched on November 2, 2026, name no window between import and automatic confirmation. If you want time to review, use manual confirmation; Printful itself suggests it while you are unsure. After automatic confirmation, Printful says you can still change or cancel an order "as long as it hasn't entered fulfillment," though orders at a partner facility can't be edited after submission, and canceling in Printful doesn't cancel or refund the order in Shopify.
Cancellations, Holds and Refunds
Key takeaway
- Cancelling. "If you cancel an order in Shopify before fulfillment starts, the cancellation request will also reach Printful." Once fulfillment has started, Printful notifies you that the cancellation was rejected.
- Holds. Printful places orders on hold over the print file, address, stock or payment. Past 30 days on hold, they are "automatically canceled and refunded" to your Wallet.
- Refunds. What Printful returns goes to your Wallet, not to your customer. Your customer paid you, so their refund comes from you.
- Marking orders done. Don't set a Printful order to Fulfilled yourself: Printful says it then "won't be able to update the order with tracking information."
When Printful and Shopify Stop Working Together
Key takeaway
Find the symptom you are looking at. The causes and fixes below come from Printful's integration errors article and the billing, hold and order articles linked above.
Symptom, cause and fix
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The store won't connect to your Printful account | It is already connected to a different Printful account | Log in to that account, save any designs you want as templates, then go to Settings > Store settings > General > Remove store, which deletes the products published to that store through Printful, and reconnect |
| The app still shows a sign-in screen | The connection process isn't complete | Try signing in again |
| Shopify products don't appear in the Dashboard | The import option is off, or the product is digital or a draft | Turn on the import option; Printful imports only physical products, and drafts won't sync |
| A Shopify collection doesn't appear in Printful | It is an automated (smart) collection | Create a manual collection, the only kind Printful pulls in |
| Shopify says you reached the shipping profile limit | Printful states that Shopify caps stores at 100 delivery profiles; Shopify's own help says you can create up to 99 custom shipping profiles, beside the general profile that every store has. At the limit Printful states, new Printful profiles can't be created | Delete profiles you no longer need, then click Refresh data in the Printful Dashboard |
| A paid order isn't in Printful | One of the three conditions in the order table above isn't met, or the order is a draft, a local pickup order or a duplicate number, or its product has fulfillment disabled | Fix the cause, then select your store in the Dashboard and click Refresh data |
| An order has the Failed status | A charge or auto-recharge failed, or the Wallet is empty with no primary billing method | Resolve the cause and submit the order again by hand, because it won't go to fulfillment on its own |
| An order is on hold | Usually the print file, the delivery address, stock or payment | Read the hold message and answer it, because Printful automatically cancels and refunds orders on hold for more than 30 days, with the money going to your Wallet |
| Tracking never reaches the Shopify order | The order was marked Fulfilled by hand, or edited before fulfillment | Send the tracking to your customer yourself and mark the order as fulfilled |
Source: Printful Help Center, read November 2 and 4, 2026.
One number can look wrong without being a fault. Printful shows stock for its products as 9999 units in Shopify, and "when out of stock at Printful, it will update to 0." If a product shows sold out for another reason, our page on why a product shows as sold out when you still have stock goes through the rest.
If none of this clears it, know who to ask. Shopify's rule for apps it didn't build is simple:
If you need help with an app or sales channel that was built by a third-party developer, then you need to contact the developer directly.
For this app, the listing names Printful Latvia AS as the support provider. Printful's articles close with a contact form and chat, and they ask for the order number when a charge keeps failing.
How to Disconnect Printful From Shopify
Key takeaway
Decide which exit you actually want, because they don't do the same thing. Uninstalling leaves the Printful side connected, and the Printful side is where the products go:
Removing your store will delete all the products published to that store through Printful.
What each exit does
| Exit | Where | What stays | What goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uninstall the app | Shopify admin: Settings > Apps, the three-dot menu on the app's row | Your store still appears as connected in the Printful Dashboard, and it can't link to a different Printful account until it is removed | By Shopify's dialog: "any data managed by the app, such as discounts, will be deleted" |
| Remove the store | Printful Dashboard: Settings > Store settings > General, the Remove store section | Designs you saved as templates beforehand | All the products published to that store through Printful, and they won't resync if you reconnect later |
Source: Printful Help Center, disconnect article, read November 2, 2026; Shopify admin uninstall dialog, November 4, 2026.
- Settings
- Apps
- Settings
- Apps
Removed products don't come back when you reconnect: "These products won't resync if you reconnect the store later." Save any design you want to keep as a template before you click Remove in your Printful Dashboard.
If you only want a product out of Printful's fulfillment, you don't need either exit. Printful says not to delete it from your Dashboard while it still exists in your store, because that deletes it from your storefront, and to unsync or ignore it instead.
Neither Printful's disconnect article nor Shopify's uninstall page says what happens to orders already in fulfillment when you disconnect, as of November 4, 2026, so let open orders ship first. Nor do they say what uninstalling alone does to your Shopify product listings, so check your products afterward. Shopify's general rule is that if an app manages inventory at a location, you need to transfer or delete that inventory as part of the uninstall, and committed inventory, such as units in an unfulfilled order, can't be deleted.
Neither exit settles what you owe elsewhere. Shopify's page on uninstalling apps says that uninstalling "doesn't cancel external charges," and that for a paid app "you might still be billed for the current billing cycle." Check your Printful billing and any Growth subscription separately.
What Our Test Store Showed Beside Printful's Help
Key takeaway
On November 4, 2026, we installed the Printful app in one Shopify development store with the admin in English and no Printful account linked, and set what it showed against Printful's help. Three results could change your next move:
Printful's help and our store, November 4, 2026
| What Printful's help says | What our store showed | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Log in to your Printful account through the embedded app in Shopify." | The first screen, Welcome to Printful, offered to create an account on the email shown, with "I already have a Printful account – sign in" as the other button | With an existing account, take the sign-in button. This test doesn't show what follows either button |
| "If the product's location is set to something else, Printful won't be able to import the order or fulfill it." | Right after install, before any account was linked, Settings > Locations had no Printful row | Don't read a missing row at this point as a fault. Check the variant's location once the connection is complete; this test doesn't show when the row appears |
| "Click Create market to manually select countries you want to sell to, or click Create International Market to use Shopify's presets." | Create market was on the Markets page and Create International Market wasn't, in a store that already has a market named International, so the reason isn't established | If you don't see the second button, use Create market and select your countries |

- Printful: Print on Demand
This was one store on one day, without a Printful account, so the test covers no sync, shipping rate, order or charge, and no completed uninstall. Printful's help may rest on more than this store showed, and your screens may differ.
The Bottom Line
Key takeaway
Printful's help governs Printful's steps and Shopify's pages govern your admin, so where a screen looks different from what you read here, those pages are the place to check. Follow one real order to tracking before you trust the setup with more.
